Reminiscences
Josephine started as land girl in Westoning, Bedfordshire, where she had been brought up. She later became a dairy trainer at Ravensden. To avoid the 7-day a week life of a milker, she transferred to Aspley Guise. Josie Walton worked at Hayfield Farm, Aspley Guise, alongside Jim Broadbent. She gained a proficiency badge for calf rearing.
Josephine took part in the WLA exhibition of handicrafts at the Corn Exchange, Bedford, 14, 15, and 16 February 1946, where the exhibits were judged by Women's Institute judges. After the hostel closed, she transferred to Hasells Hall, Sandy, which she did not like. She later married and became Josie Rowe.
