Good Afternoon, Down Memory Lane and the Sunshine Club

The aim of Good Afternoon and the Sunshine Club is:

  • To promote library services and reading and literature in the widest sense
  • To offer an activity which is open to all but will appeal particularly to people who are available in the day time To inform people of a range of learning opportunities
  • To encourage people to be active citizens

Bedford Central Library

From September 2012 the Good Afternoon programme will be managed by the Retirement Education Centre (REC). They plan to hold 10 sessions a year on a Friday afternoon.  Find out more on the REC website

A charge of 2.00 unless otherwise stated will be made to cover the cost of speakers expenses and refreshments from the Green Coffee Company.

A charge of 1.00 is made to cover the cost of speakers' expenses and refreshments. We acknowledge the support given to Good Afternoon by Flitwick Town Council.

Hereward - the Life and Legend

Mark Steinhardt will be giving a talk & storytelling about the life & legend of Hereward.

Climbing Kilimanjaro

Jane Gill will be giving an illustrated talk about her journey to the top of Kilimanjaro.

Friday 1st November
Macmillan

Pauline Craig the local fundraising manager for Macmillan will be coming along to talk about the history of Macmillan and the different services that Macmillan provide for people affected by cancer. Pauline will also talk about what Macmillan Cancer Support do in the local area.

Friday 6th December
Christmas Flower Arranging

Sandy Flower Club will be demonstrating some Christmas flower arrangements.

Good Afternoon

Stotfold Library

The 'Sunshine Club' meets every first Wednesday of the month at 2:00
A social club where you meet, chat and share memories together over a cup of tea and biscuit.

If you need transport to get to the library contact the library staff as numbers for the minibus are limited.

Down Memory Lane

Bedford Central Library

A friendly get together to share memories over a cup of tea and a piece of cake. 

Held monthly in the meeting room on the last Friday of the month between 11.00 and 12.00.
