Little Souls
By Katie Percival
Looking up into the night sky we see those waiting for life,
Little souls ready for their calling, their first breath.
They light our paths and watch over us like long lost friends,
For once we shone together amongst the clouds.
As I lay alone in a foreign world love is drowning me, but I breathe,
It is my time, I have been chosen.
How sad it is to see the forgotten left high above this earth,
this moment, this chance given to so few and taken from so many.
As time passes by I make my first footprints,
for now I stand alone, surrounded by other lucky souls.
When day turns to night I close my eyes and sense the warmth I once had,
I feel comforted, loved, reassured for in my dreams I remember.
When you gaze up at the night sky and see the souls left behind,
know that one day, one may fall for you.
A soul, a life, a star.
