Star Struck

Sauntering home that balmy night,
We gazed at the awesome, infinite sky,
Marvelling at myriads of shooting stars
Zooming to earth from way up high.

Was this an omen to wish us joy
As we started our life of married bliss?
Had we been blessed by that heavenly shower
As we sealed our vows with a lover’s kiss?

Though almost sixty years have passed,
That starlight still empowers our love;
Glowing benignly on you and me,
Our union blessed by heaven above.
