This year's
National Poetry Day
is on Thursday 3rd October 2013 and the theme is Water - how will you be inspired?
To celebrate we are running our poetry competition
again.
There are also poetry events arranged as well - so why not
join us?
Poetry Competition
The competition is open from the 6th September to the 1st November - if you are a budding poet, aged 14 plus, then why not send in an entry for the chance to be published on the Virtual Library.

or hand them in at your local library
(Don't forget to include your contact details)
The competition closes on the 1st November and the winning entries will be
published online over the coming year, the first one will be online on in mid November
2013.

supportive, confidence building and fun workshop with top poet Chris Tutton.
Tickets are 2.00 and available from the library.

If you love poetry then Bedford Library is the place to be!
Throughout the day:
- listen to some of Bedford's finest poets
- join an informal workshop to create your own water poem
- bring your under-fives along for some watery songs and poems
- have a go at book spine poetry
- join a group to hear about the works of Seamus Heaney
- and find out about all the exciting things going on in the poetry world in Bedford.
- Plus watch out for the poetry hit squad.

An evening of poetry readings and the chance to listen to last year's
winners of the National
Poetry Day Competition. Free tickets are available from the library.

Water Words
An informal session for all writers - whether in training to swim the Channel or
paddling on the shore.
Everyone 15 years or over will be very welcome. Jill Napper of Central
Bedfordshire Libraries will lead the workshop.
All you need to bring is your favourite pen and enthusiasm! If there is a poem
on the Water theme which you would like to share, please bring a copy.
