Items on my library card are about to go overdue - Can I renew them?

You are allowed to renew an item up to 10 times before you are expected to bring it into the library.  There are a number of ways you can renew the books and other items on your library card, all you need is your library card number and PIN:

  • Online - you can renew all the items on your library card online using Viewpoint , the online library catalogue,
  • Visit your local library and ask a member of staff to renew your loans.

If you do not have a PIN you can request one by clicking here.

Please be aware you cannot renew all items:

  • Requested items - if there is a request on one of your loans you will not be able to renew them for the full three weeks.  Please Contact Us to request a 7 day grace period renewal.

  • Items renewed 10 times - once you have reached your maximum renewals the system will prevent you from renewing again. Please Contact Us to request a final renewal.

  • Inter-library Loans - if you have items on loan borrowed from another library service, excluding Bedford Borough, Central Bedfordshire and Luton Libraries, you will not be able to renew them online.  This is because the books are loaned to us for a set time and we need to check that the book is within it's loan period and if not ask permission from the lending authority to extend it.  Please Contact Us to request to ask for a renewal.
