Copyright, Patents, Trade Marks and Design
A-Z How to Find Information > Law and Your Rights
- The Intellectual Property Office is "the official government body responsible for granting Intellectual Property (IP) rights in the United Kingdom (UK)". These rights include copyright, patents, designs and trade marks
- There are links at the left of the site's home page to sections for each individual topic
- Note that there are often useful additional links at the right of each page in those sections. For example, at the copyright section, there is a link to a What is copyright? page which gives you a very concise introduction
- On the right of the What is copyright? page, there is a link to a 'Copyright basic facts' document which gives you more detail
- For more web sites, including ones dealing specifically with music copyright, see the WebLinks section Copyright, patents, trade marks and design
