The Intellectual Property Office is "the official government body responsible for granting Intellectual Property (IP) rights in the United Kingdom (UK)". These rights include copyright, patents, designs and trade marks

- Note that there are often useful additional links at the right of each page in those sections. For example, at the copyright section, there is a link to a What is copyright? page which gives you a very concise introduction
