c.1835: Stockgrove House built for Colonel Henry Hammer

1929-39: During this period Michael Kroyer Kielberg built the present neo Georgian Stockgrove house on the site of the earlier building.  The parkland was re-landscaped which included enlarging the ornamental lake. It was one of the largest country houses built between the two World Wars.

1939-44: During the Second World War the park was used by the Armed Forces for various purposes. An account of a secret meeting by a high ranking group of Generals was written by a local woman Grace Howell and can be read on this web site.

1949: In May the estate was sold to Leslie Neville-Long and he in turn sold the mansion to London County Council which was succeeded by the Greater London Council. The House became a school for children with special educational needs until the GLC split.  The school was taken over by Camden Borough Council in the 1970s.

1950c: The Boathouse with its pyramidal thatched roof at the site of the ornamental lake was burnt down.

1971: Stockgrove Park purchased by Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire County Councils.

1973: The Park extended to 73 acres.

1996: Stockgrove House sold to developers and completely renovated as luxury apartments.
