19th Century: In the early 19th century a number of houses were built by squatters along the road from Woburn to Leighton Buzzard near its junction with Watling Street. This settlement, known as Sheep Lane, became the main centre of population in Potsgrove. By the mid 19th century Sheep Lane possessed a Union Chapel and a Wesleyan Chapel.

1872: By this year there were 68 children attending the school.
1897: The school closed when the Duke of Bedford built a new school at Potsgrove and the building was then used for parish meetings.
c.1900: With the restoration of the parish church, St. John's Church fell into disuse and was closed in the early 20th century. There is no mention of the church or school in the Kelly's Bedfordshire Directory of 1906.
1932: Electricity came to the village.
1952: The church and school were both demolished.
c.1977: The old well and pump house were largely destroyed by the winter gales of 1977-78.
