SANDY , with the hamlets of GIRTFORD, BEESTON, and  STRATFORD -  Sandy is a large and rapidly-increasing parish and village, about 8 miles from  Bedford, and 3 miles from Potton. It is in the hundred of Biggleswade, and Union of the same name. Here is a station of the Great Northern Railway Company, with a branch line to Potton. The Church, dedicated to St. Swithin, has been lately rebuilt, and is now a very fine edifice. The living is a rectory; the Rev. John Richardson, M.A., is the present rector. There are a Baptist Chapel, and National Schools for boys and girls.

POST OFFICE - Baron Bunting, postmaster. Mail from all parts arrives at 17 .30 a.m. ; delivered at 8 a.m. Letters are despatched at 5 p.m. Box closes, 4.55 p.m. Money Orders issued and paid from 10 a.m. till 4.30 p.m.
