The Church is first mentioned in 1205 as a daughter church of Felmersham, to which it remained a chapelry until the parishes were separated in 1859. The present building is basically 13th century enlarged by the addition of the west tower and north chapel in the 14th century and the north aisle in the 15th century.
In 1838-41 the church and chancel were restored and improved largely at the instigation of Thomas Abbot Green of Pavenham Bury and in 1847-48 a vestry was built in the angle between the north aisle and the tower, the architect being local man John Wing of Bedford. In 1868-69 repairs were done to the chancel including a new roof and east window.
In late 1955 the church had to be closed for three months because the roof was in such a dangerous state and had to be replaced. The church was restored for worship in December 1955.
