Hockliffe Christmas Paper BagThe Chrystal Collection

Sandy Chrystal was a Bedfordian born and bred and he loved his town. He worked as an architect at The Grove, Bedford and amassed one of the largest collections ever of Bedfordiana. His family donated much of it to the museum in 2007. Such was the range and extent of the collection that it is still being collated.

These are the ordinary objects of everyday life in our town from 100 years ago and more when life was very different from what it is today. Several items came from shops in Bedford High Street see below for a selection.
