c.1150: The original church of Saint Mary was said to have existed by about this date and to have been erected by the monks of Chicksands Priory, being replaced in the 14th century.

1312: First mention of Haynes  Park.

c.1705: The Vicarage at Church End built.

c.1720: Haynes Mansion built with further work carried out c.1790.

1768: The Red Lion Public House, originally a house, first used as an inn.

1850: The village school opened, largely through the generosity of Lord John Thynne.

1851: Church restored and rebuilt again largely by the efforts of Lord John Thynne.

1867: Parish pump erected by Lord John Thynne.

1874: Methodist Church built.   

1899: Mission Hall built at North Wood End and opened on the 18th May.

1929: Hawnes Girls Boarding School opens in Haynes Park Mansion which was originally owned by the Carteret family and then was the home of Lord Thynne .

1933: By the South Bedfordshire Order part of the parish was transferred to Leighton Buzzard.

1970: The Red Lion closes in April but re-opens in September.

1975: Hawnes Girls School folds in September only days before the new term starts. The Clarendon Girls School takes over the site as a major fire had destroyed most of their school (which had been an independent school in Wales since 1898).

1978: Two new wings opened at Clarendon School by Sir Eric Robinson at a cost of 131,250.

1986: Church tower restored in its original stone by the efforts of villagers who raised 35,000 in three years.

1992: Clarendon School closed and goes into liquidation in the spring. In September the site is purchased by the Indian based mystic sect Radha Soami Satsang Beas.

2000: Village post office and shop closes in November.

2001: Population numbers 1122 residents.

2005: New post office and shop opened in August in Silver End Road. The 800,000 development includes  a number of affordable houses especially for villagers.
