19th Century: In the 19th century Flitton and Greenfield were significant strawberry growing areas. Strawberries were delivered to Luton, Bedford and London.

1840: Greenfield Methodist Church built.

c.1890: Greenfield Village School built.   

1920s: In the 1920s a blight destroyed all the strawberry plants and they were never replaced.

c.1950: New school built,  the old one was sold and used as a vegetable store by a local market gardener. The building was later developed into two houses.

1956: Greenfield watermill ceases working.

1962: Greenfield Methodist Chapel completely gutted by fire in February.

1964: The New Methodist Chapel opened in November.

1970: Greenfield watermill demolished to make way for housing.

1981: Buxted Poultry Factory in Pulloxhill Road closes in June.
