The church has been so much altered and repaired in modern times that its architectural history is in a large measure uncertain. Although features dating from the 14th and 15th century have been identified.
Major restoration work began in 1845 including rebuilding of the chancel and much of the nave and north aisle, while new pinnacles to the tower were completed by 1858. In 1884-85 the upper part of the tower was again restored and this was followed in 1890-91 by the rebuilding of the chancel and east end of the south aisle.
