A-Z How to Find Information > Health and care
Online
- The Disabilities section of WebLinks lists sites offering support to a range of disabilities and recommendations on suitable equipment
- For local council services, see the Health and Social Care sections of Central Bedfordshire's and Bedford Borough's web sites
- At the Local Information Database you can find out about local organisations
- See information about aids and equipment at Disability equipment
- The e-resources section includes Credo Reference, which stock medical dictionaries and encyclopaedias
- To keep up with disability articles in the general press, see the Newspapers, Magazines and Journals section
In the Library
- The annual Disability rights handbook is available at all Central Bedfordshire and Bedford Borough libraries. It is a guide to social security and related benefits for disabled people, their families, carers and professionals who work with them. It also has an extensive contact list of national charities and self-help disability organisations
- Search the online Library Catalogue to discover relevant books held at your local library. For example, choose a 'Keyword' search and type the word 'disabled' or 'disability'. For a more structured view of what is available, choose a 'Subject' search and type the word 'disabled'.
