Post-war, attended one year full-time course at Moulton Institute of Agricultural, Northamptonshire studying stock rearing, dairy farming and farm secretarial work. Awarded British Empire Medal (BEM) for services to Agriculture, January 1947 [Beds. Times 10 Jan. 1947, p.4] Subsequently joined Mr Taylor's nursery on the Isles of Scilly growing daffodils.
