"To the memory of Samuel Whitbread, of Southill in the county, only son of Samuel Whitbread, of Bedwell park, Hertfordshire.  Born 18th January 1764, married 27th January 1788, died 6th July 1815. Elected member of Parliament for the Borough of Bedford, 1790 which Borough he represented until the time of his death."
