Where can I see a report of an Employment Tribunal case?

  • However if the case you need is a significant one you may also find an unofficial summary of it elsewhere

Full judgements

  • You can order a judgement of an employment tribunal case by post or you can visit the Employment Tribunal Field Support Office and view the judgements on computer there
  • To order by post, write to:
    Employment Tribunal Field Support Office, Triton House, St Andrews Street (N), Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, IP33 1TR
  • Enclose a cheque or postal order made out to 'Employment Tribunal  Services'. Please ring the Employment Tribunal Field Support Office on 0300 123 1024 or email them at buryet@hmcts.gsi.gov.uk to confirm the cost per search.

Summaries of significant judgements

  • A small number of employment tribunal judgements are of such general significance that summaries of them may be produced by commercial publishers or by organisations with an interest in the subject matter of the case
  • If the case you need is a significant one, you may find a summary online by entering the case details in a search engine
  • Summaries of significant employment tribunal judgements are included in a series of employment law reports available at Bedford Central Library. The series is called 'IDS Briefs' and the library keeps a ten year back file
  • You may also find a mention of a significant employment tribunal case in a substantial law book, for example 'Croner's Employment law', a constantly updated loose-leaf work available at Bedford Central, Dunstable and Leighton Buzzard libraries
