Stannard, Theresa Sylvester
People > Stannard, Theresa
Theresa was the only daughter of Henry Sylvester Stannard. She was born at Flitwick on December 14th, 1898. Theresa was educated at Bedford High School and received her artistic training from her father.
Theresa showed early promise and by the age of sixteen she had had a picture exhibited at the Royal Academy. Like other members of the Stannard family, Theresa's paintings were favoured by the Royal family: both Queen Mary and Queen Alexandra purchased her work. In 1938, Queen Mary selected a picture of the rose garden at the Bedford County Hospital for reproduction on the Royal Christmas card.
In 1930 Theresa married John. H. Swinnerton Dyer in Bedford. She died in her home at 64 Spenser Road on July 23rd, 1947.
