The Toll House was built for the Bedford and Newport Pagnell Turnpike Trust c1814. Being central for access to Bedford, Northampton and Newport and to the North Bedfordshire villages of Stevington, Oakley and Bromham this tollhouse was a key junction point for tolls between these routes.
