Kempston > Trade and Industry > Horseshoe Coaches
The firm dates back to the 19th century when its business was that of farriers with horses being shod for the London General Omnibus Co. Ltd. In 1928 the first coach was bought and this had increased to six by 1939.
During the war the company was employed in transporting workers for aerodromes and the clearing of bomb damaged property. After the war a depot was established at Kempston and with rapid expansion the fleet grew to number 40 coaches.
In 1996 Horseshoe Coaches closed, on the site of the Kempston depot houses were built and the site named Horseshoe Court.
