Commemorative brown plaque on the right-hand corner of the façade of the ornate red brick building on the south side of St Paul's Square (across the road form St Paul's Church).
Erected in 2009.
The inscription states:
Shire Hall
Built in 1879-81 in French Gothic style.
Designed by Alfred Waterhouse, architect of the
Natural History Museum in London.
Replaced the Sessions House (original Law Courts),
which stood here from 1753.
