Commemorative brown plaque headed ’19-21 High Street’ (eastern side) on the Castle Lane corner of the current Blue Monk restaurant premises. Erected in 2009.
The inscription states:
Built as the chemist’s shop and home of
Charles Palgrave, Mayor of Bedford (1849-1851).
Believed to have been designed by his nephew,
the architect Robert Palgrave.
