Caddington
All Saints Church

Places > Caddington > Churches

The south door of this church is a reset Norman doorway of c1180. The present fabric consists of a 13th century chancel, a 14th century north chapel later extended in the 15th century to form an aisle,  a 15th century west tower which had been completed by 1458 and a late 15th century aisle.

A major restoration took place in 1875-76 with the chancel being rebuilt, the whole fabric restored and re-seated and a vestry added on the north side of the chancel.

In January 1964 the bells of the church rang out for the first time in 130 years when six bells and the ringing gallery were completely renovated at a cost of 1,400. In 1997 the clock and tower were refurbished. The church obtained an English Heritage grant of 47,00 towards the repairs of the west end of the church in 2006.
