Places > Bedford > Streets > Midland Road

The street was originally called Well Street after the well known as Colles Well, which was situated near Allhallows. This name was used on the 1861 Census but by the 1871 Census the name had changed to Midland Road after the Midland Railway, which opened its line in Bedford in 1857.
