The Fountain Inn in St. John’s Street was popular with farmers and drovers who attended the livestock sales held in the area in the 19th century. The Inn was also a coaching inn with a coach called "The Pilot Coach" leaving at 9.am going through Luton to London and returning from London the next day at 8.00pm
Inn was demolished in 1967 with the ornamental ironwork inn sign taken to the Fox and Hounds in Goldington Road.
