Bedford Power Station

Places > Bedford > Trade and Industry > Bedford Power Station

Bedford’s first power station was opened by Prebend Street Bridge in 1894. The chimneys and turbine hall were demolished after the opening of Goldington power station in 1954 but parts of the structure remained for another 40 years. The site has now been redeveloped as a housing area.
