Clarabut and Plumbe

Places > Bedford > Trade and Industry > Clarabut and Plumbe

The company began trading as G. Moss and Sons in 1895 at premises in Midland Road and Great Butt Street. Around the turn of the century the firm was bought by Mr. Clarabut and Mr. Plumbe.

The company changed hands again in 1925 when it was bought by Frank Cirket who was already well known in the town as a master builder and undertaker who had started his own buiness in the Fenlake area of town. He employed two stablemen to look after his six Belgian black horses.

Around 1965 the firm moved to new premises in Kingsway. Frank Cirket sold the company in 1969 although the company still trades under the name of Clarabut and Plumbe.
