Without the Scars
By Jono Fosdike

Could you live without the scars you’ve gained throughout the years?
Could you wipe the slate down clean and dry the aged tears?
Great men that are forged in fire, toughen in the flame,
Yet could a man stroll through the grass and end up all the same?
My days have made me weary, and tired of all the threat,
But lessons learned throughout it all, I’ll never soon forget.
To be the kind and gentle man they always love to see,
And be the shield for all the souls that mean the world to me.
My patience is a virtue, that brings a great reward
My logic is a tool that wins more wars than any sword
Yet nobody is perfect, no matter how you try
As I have had my fair old share of making people cry
Those shattered plans, the dirty fib, a casual broken heart
Self control has zero say, a game rigged from the start
You live and learn, you say “no more”, and close the Lion’s Den
You swear that by your hand no-one will feel like that again
So could you live without the scars, from all the pain you cause?
The scars you bear are far behind, the days ahead are yours.
