Friends Groups in Central Bedfordshire Libraries
Your Library Card FAQ
Would you like to support your local Central Bedfordshire library by helping to set up a Friends Group?
This is your chance to get involved in the community and promote the services your library provides. Friends Groups meet at Barton Library.
Friends Groups are wide-spread in many library authorities around the country, but this is a new initiative for Central Bedfordshire. Our Friends Groups have helped by assisting at library birthday celebrations, raising funds through cake sales, organising a giant book sale, attending promotional events and publicising children's activities.
The setting up of Friends Groups is part of Central Bedfordshire Library Service's on-going work to deliver Priority 1 of the Library Service Strategy: 'Involve local people in making decisions about their library'.
The Library Service would like to invite local communities to help us to: make the library an enjoyable community space for all ages; actively promote the library and its services; raise funds to further extend the range of extensive library activities; work with us to secure additional funding to support new projects.
If you would like to know more about Friends Groups, please drop-in to your local Central Bedfordshire library or contact the library staff, who will be pleased to tell you more.
