Reading for Pleasure: A Whole School Approach
Courses
There are currently no dates planned for this course but if you are interested please contact the Schools Library Service and we will let you know when it will be running
Course Description
In recent months the phrase ‘Reading for Pleasure’ has become more prevalent. It is an important element of the Ofsted report ‘Moving English Forward’ and has been picked up in the new National Curriculum for English.
Evidence shows that there are clear connections between reading for pleasure and academic attainment. The school library has a vital role to play and should be at the heart of creating a whole school approach to reading for pleasure.

By the end of the course you will:
- understand what reader development is and the importance of reading for pleasure
