Employed Beds War Ag, based first at Aspley Guise Hostel, then transferred to work at West End Farm, Wrest Park Estate, billeted at the Silsoe Hostel. Became a driver and forewoman. Left on completion of post-war contract.
The following notes are from ones made by Kate Parker (Wrest Park Volunteer History Research Team) summarising the Three Counties Radio 'Living History' broadcast interview with Dora Davies c. November 2013:
  • She did weeding, potato picking, market gardening, setting potatoes, thrashing
  • Crops grown were carrots, potatoes, sugar beet, brussel sprouts, cabbage
  • Sugar beet was grown mostly at Silsoe at West End Farm
  • She knew nothing at all about market gardening before she started
  • Four ladies and Mr Fisher taught the Land Girls what to do

Further information Former cleaner in Dipping House, Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent aged 26. Transferred to Bedfordshire 8 July 1946. Left on completion of contract.
