This Church has an irregular plan, with a chancel on a different axis to the nave and central tower. The present building probably replaces an earlier structure, and the oldest features are the 13th century south doorway and the masonry of a similar date. The chancel and south transept are of the 19th century.

Extensive restoration work was carried out during the period 1864-66 with work being carried out on the nave, tower, south transept, porch and chancel. The roofs were raised to a steeper pitch, a new stair turret provided to the tower. Lady Isham provided a new pulpit and lectern at the time of the restoration. The stained glass in the east window and the doors to the north transept were put up in 1885 in memory of the Rev E.T St John.
