Saint Andrew's Church
Places > Biggleswade > Churches
The earliest parts of the church date to c.1300, but the present church is largely 15th century in date. In the early eighteenth century the original west tower collapsed; the present tower was built in 1720 and provided with a peel of five bells cast by Thomas Russell of Wootton. In November 1953 the chancel and organ chamber were badly damaged by a fire.
In the graveyard there is a tombstone to Mary Tealby (died 1865) a founder of the Battersea Dogs Home.
