The Red Lion, St. Loyes Street. This public house was closed in the late 1920s and became briefly the Toc H Boys Club before being demolished in 1933 for road widening. The street on the left is Allhallows Lane. The Red Lion had been a favourite pub of the hangman when visiting Bedford Gaol on the other side of St. Loyes Street (Beds Times 4th July 1985).
