Advanced Search

Develop your search by combining as many of the four ways of searching for information as you like. You can search by Keyword, by Subject, by Category, and by Place. Once you have made your selection, click on the Search button at the bottom of the page.

Keywords:

Type in the keywords that describe what you are looking for. This could be the name of the organisation, an activity, a general subject or a place name. Please leave a space between words.

Subject:

Search for all subjects or choose from the drop down A-Z list. Click on the downward arrow, select your chosen subject by clicking on it.

(HINT - Typing the first letter of the subject will speed your search by taking you to the right part of the list. Be aware that searching all subjects will list every recording the database, which may take some time).

Placename:

Select from the list to search for specific towns/villages. Click on the downward arrow, select your chosen place by clicking on it.

(HINT - Typing the first letter of the placename will speed your search by taking you to the right part of the list.)

Categories:
Click in the boxes to search by the categories into which the database is divided. You can click as many as you like. To search all categories leave all boxes blank.

When you have made your selection, hit the return key or click on the Search button. Click the Reset button to start a new search.
