Riseley
Windmills

Places > Riseley > Windmills

Riseley windmill was first noted on an 1826 map but it may have been there much longer. It was originally an open trestle mill, having a roundhouse added in the latter part of the 19th century.

The windmill ceased working during the 1914-1918 War and remained unused until in 1946 during a thunderstorm lighting struck the windmills centre post setting it on fire with the result that the windmill had to be pulled down for safetys sake.
