Places > Bedford > Trade and Industry > W & H Peacock

The business was started by Walter Molesworth Peacock in 1901 when he started his business as Auctioneer and estate agent. The name W & H Peacock did not appear until 1902 when Harry joined his brother in the firm.

In 1903 they commenced sales at Lime Street Auction Rooms. In 1906 the firm opened offices at 84 High Street and in 1916 Peacock’s began holding sales in Horne Lane. When Horne Lane was redeveloped in 1977 Peacock’s moved to its new 22,000 square feet site in Newnham Street.
