Refugee Week is a UK-wide programme of arts, cultural and educational events that celebrate the contribution of refugees to the UK, and encourages a better understanding between communities. Bedford Borough Libraries are delighted to be working with the Refugee Week in Bedford team.

Come along and swap your spare plants for something new.
Any spare plants will be donated Bedford’s Refugee allotment.

Invasion, Deportation and Survival: A Polish Woman's Epic Wartime Story 1939-45
23rd June at 7.00pm

Bedford Central Library
Hubert Zawadzki was born in Edinburgh in 1946, and lived in Polish resettlement camps in England until the age of eleven.
Come and hear him tell the story of his mothers deportation to Siberia, following the Soviet takeover of eastern Poland in 1939; her experiences as a nurse in the Polish Army in the Soviet Union, the Middle East and Scotland; and her life as an exile in Polish resettlement camps in England.
Tickets £1.00 available from the library.
