Let`s go to the seaside! Coast & Sea takes a trip along our coastline, with films from 1901 to 1978. Take a nostalgic promenade in classic British holiday destinations including Weston-super-Mare, Morecambe and Skegness. Learn about the hard work of people in our ports, from fishermen and women to shipbuilders and life boat crew. This is a free showing. Seats are on a first come first served basis.

Plot a Murder

Are you interested in the crime genre? If so, come and join local author/crime novelist A B Morgan and author and editor Morgen Bailey to experience what it`s like to plot a murder mystery or crime thriller. Get creative and have fun deciding the characters, their names, motives, method and how the detective or sleuth unravels the mystery. Tickets 1.00 each (incl. refreshments) are available in advance from the library.

The `Spanish Flu` in Bedford and Beyond

October 1918 saw the Great War finally approaching the end. An outbreak of flu in early summer had caused major casualties on both sides, but now it was back in a much deadlier form. This talk examines the impact both locally and worldwide of a pandemic that claimed at least 50 million lives. Tickets are 1 each available from Bedford Central Library in advance.
