LOCAL AUTHOR VISIT: SIMON MICHAEL at Barton Library
Simon Michael’s new book The Lighterman follows on from the first two books (The Brief and An Honest Man) in his bestselling series of crime thrillers. They feature anti-hero barrister, Charles Holborne, born on the wrong side of the tracks in the East End. Set in 1960s London, the “Wild West” of British criminal justice, when lawyers had to negotiate a difficult and dangerous path between the violent gangs vying for control of Britain’s big cities, corrupt police and biased judges. Tickets £2 in advance or £3 on the door.
