There are two commemorative plaques located at the Corn Exchange (front facade), St Paul's Square, opposite St Paul's Church.
Foundation stone erected 21 October 1872
The inscription states:
This Stone Was Laid
October XXI MDCCCLXXII
By The Right Hon: The Earl Cowper, K.G.
Lord Lieutenant of This County
In The Presence of
His Grace The Duke Of Bedford,
James Coombs, M.D. Mayor.
Unveiling stone erected 15 April 1874
The inscription states:
This Exchange
Was Opened April XV MDCCCLXXIV
By The Most Noble
Francis Charles Hastings
Ninth Duke of Bedford
George Hurst J.P. Mayor.
